About Glasgow

Glasgow is the largest city in Scotland and third most populous in the United Kingdom. The city is situated on the River Clyde in the country's west central lowlands.

The history of Glasgow is very interesting. Stone Age canoes unearthed along the banks of the River Clyde suggest early fishing communities and Celtic druids were thought to be the first to live there. Things to do in Glasgow

There are loads of great shopping locations in Glasgow. The main shopping centres are Buchanan Galleries and the St. Enoch Centre, but for the up-market posh shopping, visit Princes Square or for well-known designer labels, the Italian Centre has all the best loved brands at the most affordable prices.

For the most unique eclectic range of one-off boutiques, kooky interiors and independent galleries Glasgow's west end is known for it's free-thinking bohemian character. The area also boasts a selection of cute cafes, trendy bars and delis. Why not take a stroll down this unique and zany neighbourhood.

But shopping isn't all that Glasgow has to offer. Glasgow is home to a variety of theatres including The King's Theatre, Theatre Royal and the Citizens' Theatre and a thriving music scene. The main venues include the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall and the SECC as well as more intimate venues such as King Tut's Wah Wah Hut (where Oasis were spotted and signed by Glaswegian record mogul Alan McGee), the Queen Margaret Union and Barrowland. More recent mid-sized venues include ABC and the Carling Academy, which play host to a similar range of acts.
