London-based CEO & founder of CitySocialising, Sanchita Saha, first came up with the idea for a social networking site which focussed on developing lasting relationships offline and aimed to help professional newcomers to cities, in 2004. She originally founded the idea when she watched many of her peers, move to London knowing no-one and she felt a way to easily help them find like-minded people was needed.
In 2005, with help from the Prince's Trust, Sanchita launched a trial website. Her ambition was to create a cool online and offline social club for friendly, laid-back professionals to connect with new friends in the real world.
The first network was open in January 2007. It wasn't long however before other cities saw the site and decided that their city needed the same treatment. Seven new UK cities had the CitySocialising makeover by October 2007, including this site for people looking for friends in Glasgow. CitySocialising is for anyone interested in meeting friends in Glasgow and due to the success of sites like this one, further cities were added to the network in 2009.
